Helmet Adapter for 3M Peltor ComTac 2 – 3
This helmet adapter is designed to mount a 3M Peltor ComTac II or III‑style headset to side‑mount helmet rail systems that follow the Ops‑Core ARC‑rail pattern. The adapter replaces the headset’s headband and allows the earmuff shell to be attached directly to the helmet rail, so the cups can be positioned behind the wearer’s head when not in use.
The adapter body is constructed from a combination of nylon and metal components, forming a rigid bracket that interfaces with the headset’s mounting points and the helmet rail. The adapter connects to the ARC rail by sliding the rail into a channel or slot on the adapter’s base, then securing it with a tension screw or similar locking mechanism. This mounting method is intended to keep the headset in a fixed position relative to the helmet, subject to the forces of movement.
The adapter provides a 360‑degree rotational joint at the headset‑side connection, allowing the earmuff shell to be rotated up or down as needed. Users can loosen the joint screw, reposition the headset, and then retighten the screw to hold the desired angle. The rotation is designed to let the user swing the cups away from the ears or back toward the ears without removing the adapter from the helmet rail.
This adapter is compatible with 3M Peltor ComTac II and ComTac III headsets, and similar Peltor‑style earmuff models that share the same mounting geometry. It is intended for use on helmets that have side‑mounted ARC‑style rails, such as Ops‑Core FAST‑style helmets and other helmets with compatible ARC or ACH‑pattern rails. The adapter does not include the helmet or the Peltor headset.
