A concealed carry holster only works when retention is built around the exact frame geometry—not a generic “close enough” mold. The SCCY CPX-1 and SCCY CPX-2 share the same 6.01″ overall length, 5.06″ height, and 3.1″ barrel, but the CPX-1 includes an ambidextrous thumb safety that changes the frame width at the controls.
This SCCY CPX Holster is molded to accommodate the wider CPX-1 safety lever profile while maintaining correct fit for the narrower CPX-2 frame. That means one shell supports both platforms without compromising trigger guard coverage or retention integrity. It is built specifically for Gen 1 and Gen 2 models—not Gen 3 rail-equipped variants.
The most common fit mistake with the SCCY platform happens at Gen 3. The SCCY CPX-2 Gen 3 added a short Picatinny rail, updated grip texture, and revised frame geometry. That rail projection changes the front profile enough to affect holster compatibility.
This inside waistband holster is molded for CPX-1 and CPX-2 Gen 1 and Gen 2 only. It does not account for the Gen 3 rail projection. If you run a Gen 3 CPX-2, fit must be verified carefully before daily carry because the shell is built for the original non-railed frame.
The following models are not compatible:
SCCY CPX-3 and SCCY CPX-4, which use .380 ACP dimensions that differ from the 9mm frame
CPX-2 Gen 3 with factory Picatinny rail
Any CPX platform running a rail-mounted weapon light
This is a bare-frame kydex holster, not a light-bearing configuration.
A reliable kydex holster must protect the trigger, maintain retention, and stay consistent under daily wear—not soften, collapse, or create unnecessary movement.
This shell uses full Kydex construction at 0.08″ thickness throughout. The trigger guard is fully enclosed from holster entry to the base of the guard, creating the primary passive retention system for the pistol.
That matters even more on the CPX platform because both the CPX-1 and CPX-2 use a DAO (double-action-only) trigger system with approximately a 9 lb trigger pull. Especially on the CPX-2, where no external manual safety exists, full trigger guard coverage is not optional—it is the core safety requirement of the holster.
When the pistol reaches full seating depth, the shell locks at the retention contact point with a clear audible click, confirming secure placement.
The sweat guard extends behind the slide to reduce skin contact and improve comfort during extended IWB carry.
At approximately 15 oz unloaded, the SCCY CPX platform is designed for lightweight concealed carry. The challenge is not managing size—it is maintaining stability and reducing printing during daily movement.
This holster uses a low-profile belt clip that keeps the grip tight to the body for both appendix carry and strong-side carry. The compact dimensions of the pistol make both positions practical without the bulk associated with larger double-stack platforms.
Retention is externally adjustable without removing the holster from the belt, allowing users to tune draw resistance based on carry style and training preference.
Cant adjustment from 0° to 15° supports both neutral appendix carry and forward cant for strong-side carry. Proper setup should retain the fully loaded firearm during inversion testing while preserving a clean, single-motion draw.
This is especially important for users who rely on consistent draw mechanics rather than passive “loose fit” carry.
