Sig Sauer P320 M18 / M17 IWB & OWB Convertible Kydex Holster
M17 and M18 — Same Frame, Different Slide: Why It Matters for This Shell The P320 M17 and M18 share the same full-size grip module. The difference is entirely in the slide and barrel: the M17 uses a full-size 4.7″ barrel and slide (overall length 8.0″); the M18 uses a compact 3.9″ barrel and slide (overall length 7.2″) installed on that same full-size frame. This shell is open at the muzzle end, which means both slide lengths seat correctly — the M17’s longer slide extends past the muzzle opening without interference, and the M18’s shorter slide seats to its own retention point within the shell. Both models are confirmed compatible. A closed-muzzle shell would not accommodate the M17 in this configuration; an open-muzzle design is the reason both fit.
The following P320 variants are not compatible with this holster:
P320 X-Carry / X-Compact — X-series uses a different grip module geometry
P320 X-Five Legion — 5.0″ barrel, incompatible slide length
Any P320 variant with rail-mounted laser or weapon light — this holster is molded for the bare frame only
M18 Manual Safety — Verify Clearance The P320 M18, both military-contract and commercial versions, includes a manual thumb safety as a standard feature. The safety lever sits on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. This shell is molded to accommodate the M18’s safety lever — the lever does not block the draw path or interfere with retention. If you are carrying a standard P320 Full-Size or P320 Compact without a manual safety, those models are equally compatible as the safety relief cut does not affect fit on non-safety frames.
IWB/OWB Conversion — How the Clip System Works This holster converts between IWB and OWB carry by swapping the belt attachment hardware — no tools required. In IWB configuration, the clip positions the shell inside the waistband with the sweat guard facing the body. In OWB configuration, the clip is replaced with an OWB attachment that shifts the shell to the outside of the waistband. Both the IWB clip and OWB attachment are included. The same Kydex shell handles both carry modes — retention geometry and trigger guard coverage are identical regardless of which attachment is installed.
Optic-Ready Cut The P320 M18 ships optic-ready from the factory with an MOS (Modular Optic System) mounting plate. This shell includes an optic cut at the rear of the slide window sized to clear the body of direct-mount red-dots on MOS-plated configurations. Common optic footprints including RMR and DeltaPoint Pro fit within the cut clearance — taller optics with elevated bodies may exceed clearance and contact the shell on holstering. Test fit with your specific optic installed before daily carry.
Shell Construction Full Kydex construction throughout at 0.08″ thickness. The trigger guard is fully enclosed within the mold from holster entry through the base of the guard. When the P320 reaches full seating depth, the Kydex snaps back at the retention contact point, confirming seating audibly. The sweat guard extends behind the slide, keeping the rear of the frame off direct skin contact during IWB carry. This shell is incompatible with rail-mounted accessories — no weapon light or laser attachment can be present during holstering.
Retention, Ride Height, and Cant The retention screw is accessible from the exterior of the shell and adjustable without removing the holster from the belt. Ride height adjusts at the clip attachment point — three positions allow the grip height above the beltline to be set to the wearer’s draw preference. Cant adjusts from 0° to 15° at the clip, covering strong-side carry at 3–4 o’clock and appendix carry. The P320 M18’s carry-length profile at 7.2″ overall makes it practical in both positions; the M17’s 8.0″ overall length is better managed strong-side at a neutral cant.
Maintenance Keep the shell away from sustained heat sources. Clean with a damp cloth only — avoid solvents and abrasive materials. Check and tighten retention and clip screws at regular intervals. Do not apply lubricant to the screw hardware — lubricant attracts debris and promotes retention drift over time.
