Which APX This Holster Fits This holster is molded for the Beretta APX Full-Size and APX A1 Full-Size, both of which have a 4.25″ barrel, 7.55″ overall length, and a full MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail on the frame. The Picatinny rail is required for the TLR-8 to mount — APX variants without a rail cannot use this holster configuration.

The following APX variants are not compatible with this holster:

  • APX Carry / APX A1 Carry — no Picatinny rail; TLR-8 cannot be mounted

  • APX Compact / APX A1 Compact — shorter slide at 6.9″ overall requires a separate shell

  • APX A1 Tactical — longer 4.72″ barrel at 8.2″ overall, different slide profile

  • APX Combat — different dust cover and slide geometry

TLR-8 Rail Fit on the APX A1 — Same Caveat as TLR-7 As documented for the TLR-7 configuration, the APX A1’s Picatinny rail can exhibit slight front-to-back play with Streamlight TLR series lights on some units. Verify that the TLR-8A is fully seated and locked on the APX A1 rail with no movement before committing to daily carry. The shell’s retention geometry depends on the TLR-8A body being in a fixed, consistent position within the holster.

Light-First Fit Requirement The shell is molded around the combined profile of the APX A1 Full-Size frame and the mounted TLR-8A. The TLR-8A must be attached to the rail before holstering — the shell indexes off the light body as part of its retention geometry. Holstering the APX A1 without the TLR-8A installed will not produce a functional fit.

Interchangeable Grip Modules — No Effect on Holster Fit The APX’s Small, Medium, and Large grip modules are interchangeable. The shell indexes off the slide and trigger guard — grip module size does not affect fit, retention geometry, or draw path.

Shell Construction Full Kydex construction throughout. The trigger guard is fully enclosed within the mold from holster entry through the base of the guard. When the APX A1 Full-Size with mounted TLR-8A reaches full seating depth, the Kydex snaps back at the TLR-8A body interface, confirming seating audibly. The sweat guard extends behind the slide, keeping the rear of the frame off direct skin contact during IWB carry. At 7.55″ overall with TLR-8A mass forward of the trigger guard, strong-side carry at 3–4 o’clock is the primary intended position for this configuration.

Retention and Cant The retention screw is positioned at the TLR-8A body interface — the primary lock point on the combined firearm-plus-light unit. The TLR-8A’s laser module creates a slightly larger retention contact surface at the lower body compared to the TLR-7 — small adjustments to the retention screw produce proportionally smaller changes in draw resistance than on a light-only configuration. Test retention with the fully loaded firearm and mounted TLR-8A before daily carry. Cant adjusts from 0° to 15° at the belt clip; a neutral cant (0°) at 3–4 o’clock is recommended for this full-size configuration.

Maintenance Keep the shell away from sustained heat sources. Clean with a damp cloth only — avoid solvents and abrasive materials. Check and tighten retention and clip screws at regular intervals. Do not apply lubricant to the screw hardware — lubricant attracts debris and promotes retention drift over time.
