Cocked-and-Locked Carry The P238 is a single-action-only pistol with an external hammer. It has no passive striker safety — the only way to carry it ready to fire is cocked-and-locked: hammer fully back, manual thumb safety engaged. This shell is designed with that carry method as the baseline. The thumb safety lever profile is accounted for in the mold — the shell provides full clearance around the safety lever so holstering and drawing do not engage or disengage the safety. Confirm this clearance with your specific P238 variant before daily carry, particularly if your pistol has an aftermarket extended safety lever.

What Fits All standard P238 variants fit this shell, including P238 Equinox, P238 Nitron, P238 Rainbow, and P238 HDG. The shell geometry indexes off the slide and frame — finish and grip panel variations do not affect fit.

Optic Cut The P238 HDG and select other variants include a factory optic cut on the slide. This shell includes an optic window to accommodate a mounted micro red-dot on those variants. Non-optic variants are unaffected by the cut.

What Doesn’t Fit

• Any P238 with an aftermarket extended barrel that protrudes beyond the standard slide length

• Any P238 with a rail-mounted laser or light — this shell is molded for the bare frame only

Kydex Shell Fully enclosed trigger guard from the holster mouth to the base of the guard — no trigger contact is possible at any angle during holstered carry. Audible retention click on full seating confirms the pistol is locked in position. Sweat guard behind the slide keeps the rear of the frame off skin contact.

Adjustments and Carry Retention screw adjusts from the exterior without removing the holster from the belt. Carry cant adjustable from 0° to 15°. The P238’s compact dimensions make it practical in appendix carry at neutral cant — the external hammer sits low and the slim profile keeps printing minimal regardless of carry position.

Care Wipe with damp cloth only. No solvents. Check and tighten clip and retention screws periodically. No lubricant on screw hardware.
