Walther PDP Compact 4″ IWB Hybrid Holster
Fit Clarification First This holster is molded for the Walther PDP Compact 4″ barrel configuration. The PDP line shares a name across meaningfully different frame sizes — the Compact 4″, the 4.5″, and the 5″ full-size have different grip lengths and frame depths. This shell does not fit the 4.5″ or 5″ models. If you are unsure of your barrel length, measure from the muzzle to the end of the slide before ordering.
Material Split and Why It Matters for the PDP The PDP Compact 4″ is a mid-size pistol — not a subcompact. At that frame size, the holster shell covers more surface area against the torso than a micro-compact would. Placing rigid Kydex directly against that larger contact zone increases pressure concentration during extended carry. The leather-and-foam backing on this holster absorbs and distributes that contact across a softer surface, with the foam layer gradually conforming to the carry position over the first weeks of use.
Kydex Shell Formed at 0.08″ Kydex with full trigger guard enclosure built into the mold. The optic cut is machined into the shell to clear compact red-dot footprints on optic-ready PDP variants. Iron sight configurations are unaffected by the cut.
Retention and Draw Retention is set mechanically at the shell level via an adjustment screw. There is no secondary retention device — the draw path is open and unobstructed from holster entry to clear. This suits users who prioritize draw speed over multi-level retention, and is appropriate for concealed carry contexts where Level I passive retention is the standard.
Cant and Ride Height Cant adjusts from -25° to +25° at the clip. Ride height sets the depth of the grip below the beltline. On the PDP Compact 4″, a lower ride height helps manage print control on the longer grip but requires slightly more deliberate draw clearance. Finding the correct combination for your body type and clothing typically takes a few carry sessions to dial in.
Hardware Maintenance The interface between the Kydex shell and the leather backing creates two different materials expanding and contracting at different rates with heat and humidity. Check retention and clip screws every few weeks during the break-in period, as this is when hardware loosening is most likely to occur.
