SCCY CPX-1 / CPX-2 IWB Kydex Holster
CPX-1 vs CPX-2 — Same Frame, Different Width The CPX-1 and CPX-2 share identical overall dimensions: 6.01″ in length, 5.06″ in height, and a 3.1″ barrel. The single difference between them is the CPX-1’s ambidextrous thumb safety lever, which is absent on the CPX-2. The safety lever increases the CPX-1’s measured width across the controls to 1.40″, compared to 1.26″ on the CPX-2 — a 0.14″ difference at the safety lever position on the frame. This shell is molded to accommodate the CPX-1’s safety lever profile. The CPX-2’s narrower frame fits within the same shell with correct trigger guard coverage and retention — the relief cut for the safety lever does not create play or gaps on the CPX-2’s flat frame at that position.
Generation Compatibility — Gen 1/2 vs Gen 3 The SCCY CPX series underwent meaningful changes at Gen 3. The Gen 3 CPX-2 added a short Picatinny rail to the front of the frame, revised grip texturing, and updated sights. These dimensional changes affect holster compatibility — holsters molded for Gen 1/2 CPX-1 and CPX-2 do not always fit Gen 3 correctly, with some makers explicitly excluding Gen 3 from Gen 1/2 holster compatibility. This holster is molded for CPX-1 and CPX-2 Gen 1 and Gen 2. If you are carrying a Gen 3 CPX-2 with Picatinny rail, test the fit carefully before daily carry — the rail adds a projection below the frame that this shell does not account for.
The following SCCY variants are not compatible with this holster:
CPX-3 and CPX-4 — chambered in .380 ACP; while sharing a similar frame outline, the .380 variants have dimensional differences that affect shell fit
CPX-2 Gen 3 with Picatinny rail — rail projection incompatible with this shell
Any CPX variant with rail-mounted weapon light — this shell is molded for the bare frame only
Shell Construction Full Kydex construction at 0.08″ thickness throughout. The trigger guard is fully enclosed within the mold from holster entry through the base of the guard. When the CPX-1 or CPX-2 reaches full seating depth, the Kydex snaps back at the retention contact point, confirming seating audibly. The sweat guard extends behind the slide, keeping the rear of the frame off direct skin contact during IWB carry. At 6.01″ overall and a weight of approximately 15 oz unloaded, the CPX-1 and CPX-2 are lightweight subcompact platforms — the shell’s low-profile clip keeps the grip close to the body in both appendix and strong-side carry.
Retention and Cant The retention screw is accessible from the exterior of the shell and adjustable without removing the holster from the belt. Cant adjusts from 0° to 15° at the belt clip, covering both appendix carry and strong-side positions. The CPX series’ DAO (double-action-only) trigger and 9 lb trigger pull means the trigger guard coverage provided by the shell is the primary passive retention mechanism in the absence of an external safety — confirm that the trigger guard is fully enclosed and the retention is set to hold the pistol through inversion before daily carry.
Maintenance Keep the shell away from sustained heat sources. Clean with a damp cloth only — avoid solvents and abrasive materials. Check and tighten retention and clip screws at regular intervals. Do not apply lubricant to the screw hardware — lubricant attracts debris and promotes retention drift over time.
