This Inside the Waistband Kydex holster is molded to fit compact 2‑inch‑barrel revolvers sharing the J‑Frame profile, including the Taurus RT817 2″ and the Smith & Wesson 642 and 442 Airweight. The shell is formed to the cylinder, frame, and 2‑inch barrel of these models; other revolvers with the same J‑Frame‑equivalent frame and cylinder dimensions may also fit, and you are welcome to contact us for compatibility confirmation before purchasing.

Shell Material and Profile
The holster body is constructed from approximately 0.08‑inch Kydex or carbon‑fiber Kydex thermoplastic, providing a rigid, lightweight shell that maintains its shape under belt pressure and enables consistent one‑handed reholstering. A sweat shield on the body side helps reduce metal‑to‑skin contact and protects the cylinder and barrel from perspiration during everyday concealed carry.

Retention and Cant Adjustment
Passive retention is provided by a molded friction fit around the cylinder and frame, with a retention adjustment screw so you can fine‑tune draw resistance to your preference. The belt clip mounting supports adjustable cant (typically from 0° up to around 15–30°), letting you configure the holster for appendix or strong‑side inside‑the‑waistband carry according to your preference.

Belt Clip and Everyday Use
A single belt clip is designed to attach securely to standard everyday carry belts, keeping the holster stable during movement and drawing. This holster is intended for 2‑inch‑barrel J‑Frame‑equivalent revolvers and will not properly fit longer 3″ or 4″ barrel variants of the same family due to the extended barrel protruding past the holster mouth. Models with laser grips or significantly altered grip profiles may also require a test fit, as non‑standard grip frames can affect seating and retention.

Care and Maintenance
To preserve your Kydex holster’s service life, avoid exposing it to high temperatures, such as leaving it inside a closed vehicle in direct sunlight, since Kydex can deform under excessive heat. Clean the holster using mild soap and water only; do not use abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners that could damage the Kydex or hardware, and periodically check all screws for tightness rather than lubricating them, applying a medium‑strength threadlocker if needed to keep your retention setting secure during everyday carry.
