At Coldre Store, a weapon-mounted light is not an accessory — it’s a commitment. The moment you mount an Olight Baldr, a Streamlight TLR-7, or a PL-Mini to your pistol’s accessory rail, you’ve changed the firearm’s geometry in ways that a standard holster cannot accommodate. Our holster with light collection is built specifically for this reality: every shell is vacuum-molded to the precise combination of pistol model and weapon light, delivering a secure, rattle-free fit that retains both the firearm and the light as a single unified system.

A standard holster cannot safely carry a light-equipped pistol. The light body extends below and forward of the trigger guard in ways that a non-light holster shell was never designed to capture — resulting in loose retention, inadequate trigger guard coverage, and a draw stroke that varies in resistance based on how the unsupported light contacts the holster walls. A purpose-built light bearing holster eliminates all of these variables at the molding stage, before the holster ever touches your belt.

Why Light Bearing Holsters Must Be Model-Specific

Every weapon light has a unique body profile, switch geometry, and rail attachment footprint. A holster molded for a Streamlight TLR-1 will not correctly fit a TLR-7A, even on the same pistol — the body dimensions, switch positions, and overall length differ enough to change how the shell captures the combined pistol-and-light unit.

This is why our light bearing IWB and OWB holsters are listed by pistol model and light model as a paired combination — not by pistol alone. The vacuum-molding process captures the exact three-dimensional profile of your specific firearm-and-light combination, producing a shell that:

  • Retains the pistol through the trigger guard, not through friction against the light body

  • Covers the trigger fully with no gap between the shell and the trigger guard aperture

  • Allows the light’s switches to remain accessible for activation after the draw without catching on the holster during the draw stroke itself

  • Delivers an audible and tactile retention confirmation on reholster for both the pistol and the light

Our holster with light collection covers the most widely deployed weapon lights in the concealed carry, duty, and tactical markets:

Streamlight:

  • TLR-1 and TLR-1 HL — full-size duty light, most common in OWB duty holster configurations

  • TLR-7 and TLR-7A — compact duty light, the leading choice for full-size and compact pistols in IWB carry

  • TLR-7 Sub — subcompact-specific light for micro-compact pistols (Glock 43X, Shield Plus, Hellcat)

Olight:

  • Baldr Pro and Baldr Pro R — full-size light with green or white laser; compatible holsters available in both IWB and OWB configurations

  • Baldr Mini and Baldr S — compact format for mid-size and compact pistols

  • PL-Pro and PL-Mini 2 — Valkyrie series lights in both duty and compact sizes

SureFire:

  • X300 and X300U-A — the standard-bearer for duty OWB holster configurations; available in light-bearing Level I and Level II retention formats

  • X300T — turbo-head variant requiring specific shell geometry for correct forward-profile capture

Other compatible platforms: Streamlight TLR-8, Inforce APL, Nightstick TCM series, and additional lights available by model confirmation at checkout.

IWB vs. OWB Light Bearing Holsters

Choosing between IWB and OWB for a light-equipped pistol depends on the carry context:

IWB light bearing holsters are the correct choice for concealed carry of a light-equipped pistol. The light extends the pistol’s footprint significantly — a claw or modwing attachment is therefore especially important in an IWB light bearing configuration to counteract the extra weight and prevent the extended light body from printing through lighter garments. Dual-clip attachment is strongly recommended for IWB light bearing carry, as the additional weight of the light increases the lateral force that a single clip must resist during movement.

OWB light bearing holsters are optimized for duty carry, range use, and open-carry environments where concealment is not the primary objective and retention level takes priority. Duty-grade OWB light bearing holsters are available in Level I (passive retention only), Level II (retention hood or thumb break), and Level III (multiple active retention devices) configurations — the appropriate level determined by the operational environment and department regulations.

What to Look for in a Light Bearing Holster

Selecting the right weapon light holster requires verifying six specific variables:

  • Combined fit confirmation: verify that the holster listing specifies both your pistol model AND your light model — a holster listed only by pistol model does not guarantee light compatibility

  • Trigger guard coverage: the shell must fully enclose the trigger guard with no gap between the holster body and the trigger guard aperture when the pistol is fully seated

  • Light switch clearance: the shell must clear the light’s activation switches so they cannot be engaged during the draw stroke or while seated in the holster

  • Retention adjustment: micro-adjustable retention screw allows draw force to be tuned for the combined weight of the pistol and light without tools or modification

  • Open muzzle design: allows light body and muzzle to extend past the shell end without contact — critical for lights with bodies extending beyond the barrel length

  • Optic compatibility: if your light-equipped pistol also carries a red dot, confirm the shell is cut for your specific optic — combined light-and-optic configurations require a shell molded for all three components simultaneously

Who Needs a Light Bearing Holster?

holster with light is the required solution for any carrier who runs a weapon-mounted light as part of their standard setup:

  • Concealed carriers (EDC): those who carry a light-equipped pistol for home defense readiness and need a holster that accommodates the full configuration — not a bare pistol — during daily carry

  • Law enforcement and security professionals: duty holsters rated for the specific pistol-and-light combination approved by their department or agency

  • Home defense and nightstand carry: carriers who keep their pistol holstered with the light mounted and need a platform that secures both safely

  • Range and competition shooters: holsters that retain the light during dynamic movement, drawing, and reholstering at speed under training conditions

Running a weapon-mounted light without a holster built for it is the single most common compatibility mistake in the concealed carry market. The light doesn’t fit, the retention fails, and the draw stroke becomes unpredictable — three problems that a purpose-built light bearing holster solves completely before the first carry day begins.
